Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Twentieth Century Studios plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Michael Bay's The Rock (1996) with a new combo pack release, which is expected to arrive on the market before the end of the year.

20th Century Studios is preparing a combo pack release of Peter Weir's Dead Poets Society (1989), starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Gale Hansen. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on September 29.

Upcoming Carlotta Films Releases

French label Carlotta Films has revealed that it plans to add a number of titles to its Blu-ray catalog in 2014. Amongst them are Joe Dante's The 'Burbs (1989), Todd Haynes' Velvet Goldmine (1998), Max Ophüls' Letter From an Unknown Woman (1948), Alejandro Amenábar's Tesis (1996), and Fritz Lang's Secret Beyond the Door (1947).

Redemption Films Acquire Alain Robbe-Grillet's L'Immortelle

Independent distributors Salvation Films/Redemption Films have acquired the U.S. rights to director Alain Robbe-Grillet's directorial debut L'Immortelle (1963), starring Françoise Brion, Jacques Doniol-Valcroze, Guido Celano, Sezer Sezin, and Ulvi Uraz. The distributors plan to release the film on Blu-ray in 2014.

Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount Team Up Again

Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount have signed a three-year deal for theatrical films that will begin in April. The two parties announced the new deal earlier today. In the '80s, Bruckheimer produced a number of hits for Paramount, such as Adrian Lyne's Flashdance (1983), Martin Brest's Beverly Hills Cop (1984), and Tony Scott's Top Gun (1986).

British distributors Eureka Entertainment have officially announced that they will release on Blu-ray director Sidney Lumet's Serpico (1973), starring Al Pacino, John Randolph, Jack Kehoe, Biff McGuire, and Tony Roberts. Serpico will be available for purchase on February 24th.

Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac Gets U.S. Theatrical Date

Magnolia Pictures announced today that controversial Danish helmer Lars von Trier's two-part erotic film Nymphomaniac will open in theaters across the United States in March. Part One will arrive in theaters on March 21, while Part Two will open on April 18 2014.

Drafthouse Films, in conjuction with Cinedigm, has announced the Blu-ray release of The Act of Killing, the breakout documentary that won over audiences at Toronto, Telluride, SXSW, True/False and Berlin (where it won the Audience Award), and went on to record-breaking box-office openings in New York and other major markets. The Act of Killing comes to Blu-ray on January 14, 2014 (now updated to January 7, 2014).

For the week that ended on December 1st, Pixar and Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Monsters University took back the number-one spot on both the Blu-ray-only and overall package media charts. This prequel to the 2001 animated favorite Monsters, Inc. has remained at the top of the different media charts since its small-screen release in October, and that success comes on the heels of its strong theatrical performance last summer.

IFC Films has acquired the North American rights to cult Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia's latest film, Las brujas de Zugarramurdi a.k.a Witching and Bitching (2013), starring Javier Botet, Carmen Maura, Mario Casas, Santiago Segura, Carolina Bang, and Hugo Silva. The film, which was the last one to be screened in Toronto Film Festival's Midnight Madness, will arrive in U.S. cinemas in 2014.

Universal Announces Fast & Furious 6 Proceeds Donation

Earlier today Universal Pictures announced that a percentage of proceeds from the upcoming home entertainment release of Fast & Furious 6 will be donated to Paul Walker's non-profit organization: Reach Out WorldWide, a network of professionals with first responder skill-sets who augment local expertise when natural disasters strike in order to accelerate relief efforts. Walker founded the organization after witnessing deficiencies in local activations following the January 2010 Haiti earthquake, and remained passionately devoted to the charity.
