Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

A&E Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the BBC miniseries 'Pride and Prejudice' to Blu-ray on March 31st. Besides being presented in 1080p video, no other technical specs are currently known about the release. Additionally, no special features have been announced at this time.

Japanese optical disc manufacturer Infinity has announced the first Blu-ray release which makes use of a hybrid Blu-ray/DVD release. Due to hit store shelves on February 18th, 'Code Blue' will feature four hybrid discs, which feature a single Blu-ray layer (25GB) and two DVD layers (9GB) on the same side of the disc.

Many Chinese and Taiwanese OEM Blu-ray Disc player manufacturers are seeing their products sit on store shelves while players from major manufactures - such as Sony and Samsung - maintain strong sales. According to reports, this is due to major manufacturers lowering their player prices to the sub-$200 level for the holidays, a move which places them at the same price level as the majority of entry-level players.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will release 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' for Blu-ray on February 17th, day-and-date with the DVD release and the same day as the Blu-ray release of 'High School Musical: Remix'. Navarre Corporation announced yesterday that, as a result of the economic recession, they are shutting down BCI Eclipse Company, a wholly-owned subsidiarity and distributor of Blu-ray titles. Their last Blu-ray releases - 'Live From Abbey Road: Best of Season One' and 'Kitaro' - came in November, and no other Blu-ray releases were on their immediate schedule.

FUNimation has announced that they will bring 'Shigurui: Death Frenzy' to Blu-ray on March 10th, day-and-date with the DVD release. In an early announcement to retailers, Toyko Shock (Media Blasters) has announced that they will bring the infamous Takashi Miike film 'Ichi the Killer' to Blu-ray on March 31st. A week after hitting store shelves, the Blu-ray release of Warner Brothers 'The Dark Knight' has sold over 1.7 Million units worldwide, shattering all previous Blu-ray sales records. The film, which stars Christian Bale as the caped-crusader, is set to break $1 Billion at the box office, and some execs feared that home video sales would be hurt by such success. Those fears were alleviated after selling through 600,000 Blu-ray units on the first day, and sales of the landmark title have been continuing at a record pace.

Blue Underground has announced that they will bring the David Cronenberg film 'Fast Company' to Blu-ray on April 28th. This Blu-ray release has been prepared under the supervision of the film's cinematographer Mark Irwin to ensure compliance with the Director's intent. On March 24th they will release François Truffaut's 'The 400 Blows' and 'The Last Metro' in stunning high definition. We have confirmed that a post over at The Pixar Blog (unofficial) is correct, and the Pixar film 'A Bug's Life' will come to Blu-ray this Spring. While no date is currently set, an official announcement for the release is scheduled for February with a proposed March release date. I was reminded by our contacts that, because a date has not been set, the possibility for a shift is possible.

Henry McGee, president of HBO Home Entertainment recently revealed that the hit HBO drama 'True Blood' will receive a Blu-ray release this Spring. In general, HBO has been very vague with regards to their Blu-ray plans. The recent release of 'Band of Brothers' was simply amazing, yet the lack of a Blu-ray release for 'Generation Kill' was both shocking and disappointing.

A few weeks back, SlySoft, a company which specializes in breaking digital rights management (DRM) code, confidently claimed that they had defeated the Blu-ray anti-piracy technology BD+ permanently. Seems as if they may have spoken too soon. The company, along with numerous users, have admitted that BD+ has been resecured via updates to the system.
