Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Anchor Bay Home Entertainment has announced the technical specs and special features for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Streets of Blood', which is scheduled to hit store shelves on September 29th. For the film starring Val Kilmer, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Sharon Stone, video will be presented in 1.78:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

The German branch of 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that it will release the second and fourth seasons of the TV series 'Prison Break' on Blu-ray during the last quarter of the year (the specific date is still pending confirmation). No information on specifications or region coding was available yet. This bodes well for a possible BD release Stateside.

In an early announcement to retailers, it has been revealed that Shout Factory will release 'Kurt Cobain About a Son' on October 6. This documentary is compiled from the audio interviews Kurt Cobain gave journalist Michael Azerrad for his book Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana, played over newly-shot video of the Washington locations where the Nirvana frontman grew and lived.

As we reported on Monday, 'Monsters vs. Aliens' will be released on Blu-ray on September 29. However, the edition won't include the movie in 3-D, despite its great success with theatrical 3-D showings. The reason given is that the 3-D technology developed for movie screens couldn't be replicated in the home — at least, not yet.

Icon Home Entertainment has announced that it will release 'The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations' on Blu-ray on September 14, day-and-date with the DVD. As we reported earlier, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has developed a special Comic-Con Exclusive version of Joss Whedon's 'Dollhouse: Season One' Blu-ray release limited to 2,500 hand-numbered copies. Pre-sale of the Blu-ray discs began yesterday at 10am PST, and demand was so high that it overwhelmed Fox's servers and caused the site to crash.

The UK branch of Warner Home Video has sent to retailers the first details for the catalog titles the studio is set to release on Blu-ray in October and November. There are many interesting titles in the list: some were already announced in the US (e.g., 'Contact'), and others were only rumored (e.g., 'Heat') while others belong to another studio in the US (e.g., 'Dances with Wolves').

This launch will coincide with the publication of Dan Brown's new novel, The Lost Symbol. No edition details are available yet, but the studio has assured they will be announced shortly.

According to updated information on Amazon.com, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment's delayed Blu-ray release of 'Rounders' will now be released in May of next year. No reason was ever given for the delay, but one possible reason may be so it can coincide with the theatrical release of the recently revealed untitled Brian Koppelman and David Levien project.

Our good friend Bill Hunt over at The Digital Bits has the scoop that Warner Home Video will release 'The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen' for Blu-ray on September 8th. Original released for DVD in 2000, this version features new scenes added to William Friedkin's classic horror tale. No technical specs or special features have been announced at this time.

Clint Eastwood's 'Gran Torino' was the top-selling title on Blu-ray on the week from June 29 to July 5. The other places in the sales podium were taken by two other new releases: 'Push' in number 2 and surprisingly, Steven Soderbergh's 'Che Parts 1 and 2' in third place. The previous week's top seller, 'Bolt', dropped to fourth place.

Warner Home Video has announced that it will release 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Ultimate Collector's Edition' on Blu-ray on October 27. The film comes in a collectible gift tin including a replica of Clark Griswold's holiday Santa hat, a set of holiday-themed drink coasters with quotes from the film, a box of fake snow and an “I survived a Griswold Family Christmas” button, and a collectible Moose figurine (BD-exclusive).

Since launching Blu-ray in China, Sony has seen lackluster sales of the high definition format among the Chinese populous. Not deterred, however, Sony has pledged to maintain support for Blu-ray in China for the foreseeable future, and in response will increase marketing and promotion of Blu-ray titles.

A month after being announced in the US, the new line of Pioneer Blu-ray players is arriving in the UK, although with slightly different model numbers: BDP-120, BDP-320, and BDP-LX52. All three support BD-Live, and include advanced audio decoders, as well as an integrated USB port for use with compatible flash drives and hard disk drives.

Marantz has announced the UK launch of its high-end Blu-ray player, the UD9004. Specifications are similar to those of the recently-announced Japan version.
