Lionsgate and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for the 1992 Action/Sci-Fi film 'Universal Soldier.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the UHD wide release which has been on the market since late 2019. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Vietnam is the setting for the gorgeously drawn SteelBook artwork. The exterior panels have a glossy sheen but do not attract obvious fingerprints. The
front panel features the two main characters, Luc Deveraux and Andrew Scott, while still human; the former is on the left and in front of the latter, who
is on
the right. Both face forward with their weapons in hand. A dark, rainy, and fiery background appears behind them. This image extends across the spine,
which features the film's title in bold yellow-to-orange text at the top and small Studio Canal and Lionsgate logos at the bottom, and to the rear which
continues the scene of destruction, depicting a burned and war-torn Vietnamese village. The set also includes a plastic slipcover with additional front
and
rear matter, including the film's title and actor names on the front and basics like a plot blurb, a photo, extras listings, a billing block, and the like on the
back. What is notable, and cool, about the slip is that it essentially transforms the front panel into a depiction of Deveraux and Scott into their "UniSol"
selves. Well designed!
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on their own hubs, one
on the left and one on the right. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a war-torn terrain with a smoldering fire at the top and several
spent bullet casings littering the ground across both panels.

This is a great SteelBook. It's focused on the film's opening minutes in Vietnam, which is the general propellant for the film, but necessarily its exact focus (the slipcover shifts the presentation to that focus). Overall, the SteelBook presentation is great, and fans will enjoy it. The film is solid, too, as is the UHD A/V quality. Highly recommended!
