Wonder Woman 4K Blu-ray Movie Review

Warner Brothers has released Director Patty Jenkins' 2017 Superhero film 'Wonder Woman' to 4K UHD SteelBook for the third time in less than three years (see the 2017 release and the 2018 release). This set carries over the same on-disc content but does ship with a clear plastic slipcover and a fresh digital code. Wonder Woman 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras 

This third Wonder Woman UHD SteelBook presents a mirror image front and back depicting the title hero's shield against a brushed metal gray background. On the front, its near center line is butted up against the left. On the back, the center line is against the right. The shield, too, is made of shades of gray and black, allowing it to blend, yet still stand apart, from the background. Some debossing work has been performed to allow most of its edges, front and back, to appear and feel slightly raised. The SteelBook exterior is smooth but not necessarily so slick as to display basic handling fingerprinting. The spine maintains the image and represents the shield's true center. The film's title has been placed center while Warner Brothers and Blu-ray logos appear at the bottom. The SteelBook does ship inside a clear plastic slipcover. Wonder Woman, partially in silhouette, stands in profile facing right, sword in right hand, along the front's far left hand side. Here, there is some color, and the yellow Wonder Woman logo appears center with the film's title in white below. A DC logo has been placed at the top right corner. The rear panel is blank. The spine features matching dark gray brushed metal color schemes with the same information, only in larger print, as found on the SteelBook proper.

Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one UHD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features the exact same inner print found on the 2018 SteelBook, a quartet of characters on Themyscira. From left to right: Menalippe, Wonder Woman, Hippolyta, and Antiope. A small, unobtrusive billing block appears on the bottom left, customary for Warner Brothers SteelBooks.

Wonder Woman 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation 

Superfluous? Pretty much. With the same disc content as both previous issues and the same inner print image as found on the 2018 SteelBook there's little reason for this release to exist, particularly as the third SteelBook in less than three years for the same movie. But, for anyone who likes this version better than the others...here it is, and it is quite nice looking. The big question now is whether Wonder Woman will get yet another variant next year.
