The Chosen: Season Four Blu-ray Movie Review

Reviewed by Martin Liebman September 29, 2025

Angel Studios has released the fourth season of the incredibly popular show 'The Chosen,' now in SteelBook packaging. Season four released in mid-2024 in standard packaging and without any extras. This SteelBook version adds a single bonus disc with "after shows" for each episode. However, it's not as comprehensive as the more thorough extras found on the six-disc special edition issue, but it's a nice add-on to this SteelBook. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel as well as a few words on the disc four extras.

The Chosen: Season Four Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras  2.0 of 5

As with the previous season four release, there are no extras on any of the three main Blu-ray discs. However, Angel has included here a fourth disc that includes the "Aftershow" conversations that feature Chris Durban and Jalen Albania hosting in-depth discussions of each episode.

  • Episode 1 (1080p, 54:00): Guests include Actors David Amitom, Noah James, and Amy Bailey and Writers Ryan Swanson and Tyler Thompson.
  • Episode 2 (1080p, 44:26): Guests include Actors Paras Patel and George H. Xanthis and Writers Ryan Swanson and Tyler Thompson.
  • Episode 3 (1080p, 1:36:40): Actors Brandon Potter and Joey Vahedi discuss. Later, it's Dallas Jenkins and Yasmine Al-Bustami.
  • Episode 4 (1080p, 51:29): Guests include Actors Jonathan Roumie and Kirk B. R. Woller and Writers Ryan Swanson and Tyler Thompson.
  • Episode 5 (1080p, 40:40): Participating in this episode are Actors Catherine Lidstone, Sophia Cameron Blum, and Luke Dimyan as well as Writers Ryan Swanson and Tyler Thompson.
  • Episode 6 (1080p, 45:23): Jordan Walker Ross, Abe Bueno-Jallad, and Austin Reed Alleman are the actors in this episode while Writers Ryan Swanson and Tyler Thompson appear for the second half.
  • Episode 7 (1080p, 56:04): Actors Joey Vahedi, Demetrios Troy, and Jonathan Roumie are followed by Writers Ryan Swanson and Tyler Thompson.
  • Episode 8 (1080p, 1:12:27): Actors Jonathan Roumie, Catherine Lidstone, and Shaan Sharma are followed by Dallas Jenkins to discuss the season finale.
As for the SteelBook, it's of a high quality. The front and rear panels features a worn gray color that looks like old and dirty cracked concrete. On the front is a profile picture of Jesus' head filled with a character collage going all theway down the "neck." The show's title appears in white letters, center, while "Season Four" appears in a rose-type color bottom center. The rear panel is just that "cracked concrete" look, but there is a fun surprise: the Chosen three-fish logo with the middle one going in the opposite direction. There is no color to them; the shapes are simply subtly debossed into the SteelBook. What a great touch! The spine is that rose color from the front lettering with the show title in white and a Blu-ray logo at the bottom.

Inside, discs one and four appear on hubs on the left and right sides, respectively, while discs two and three are on a center leaf. The inner print is just more of the "cracked concrete" look. A card is also included. Mine features a bust of Quintus. There is nothing on the back.

The Chosen: Season Four Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  3.5 of 5

Kudos to Angel for not just dropping the original three discs into a SteelBook. While there's not really any major differences on the discs apart from the two Spanish language tracks and the Spanish subtitles, the studio has included a bonus disc with the "After Show" episodes for all eight episodes which adds up to well over seven hours of bonus content. That's nothing to sneeze at, and the SteelBook is very nice as well. The only "drawback" I see with this release is that it's just sort of out there on an island. There are no SteelBooks for seasons one, two, three, or five to pair it with (so far), so OCD packaging enthusiasts (which I include myself in that category) might find this a little off-putting for that reason. Still, it's a good-looking package worth the investment.
