14 years after Captain Jean-Luc Picard retired from Starfleet, Patrick Stewart is back to reprise his iconic role. After the destruction of the Planet Romulus, we follow Picard as he tracks down a series of mysteries about his past. From co-creators Alex Kurtzman, Kirsten Beyer, Pulitzer Prize winning author Michael Chabon, and Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind), Picard sets out on a new adventure against a legion of dangerous foes, with the help from a few returning characters–Data, Riker, and Seven of Nine–and a whole new crew.

CBS/Paramount and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for 'Star Trek: Picard - Season One.' The on-disc content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

This CBS/Paramount SteelBook is smooth and glossy and will show some handling fingerprints in its darker areas. The front panel features Picard, back
mostly turned to the viewer, head turned to the side allowing for a full profile view of his face. A bright light source, presumably a celestial body,
appears behind him while a couple of planetoids have been placed to his direct left and in the upper right. Bottom center is the show's title with the
familiar Federation insignia
serving as the "A" in "Picard." The rear panel simply carries over the image; the planetoid on the front left wraps to the back right while another, much
larger one, appears bottom left. A bit of fine print legalese appears bottom center and a model number bottom right. The spine is black with the show's
title in a bronze color center. A CBS Blu-ray logo appears at the top while Blu-ray and Paramount logos have been placed at the bottom.
Inside, the three Blu-ray discs are split between the left and right sides; disc one sits on its own hub on the left while discs two and three are situated
on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features a wide angle, front-towards-back view of the La Sirena bridge.
Picard stands center, pointing forward, in the "engage" pose. Rios sits in the captain's chair to his left while Agnes and Raffi man consoles closer to the
viewer on the bottom left and right sides, respectively.

The Picard Season One SteelBook isn't particularly imaginative in layout. There's little of interest on the outside and the inner print recycles one of the common promotional images long in circulation. Fortunately, the show is solid and the Blu-ray presentation is sound. Recommended.
