Reviewed by Martin Liebman September 25, 2019
Disney and Best Buy have collaborated on a store exclusive SteelBook release for the 'Signature Collection' Blu-ray release of the classic 1959
animated film 'Sleeping Beauty.' The disc and digital content is identical to that found in the wide release. See the 'Special Features and Extras' section of the review below
for more on the SteelBook's look and feel.

Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

What a handsome SteelBook. It's smooth but not necessarily super glossy or prone to attracting obviously visible fingerprints. The film's title appears
on the top-left side in a royal purple color. The title proper is debossed but surrounding text -- "Disney" and "Anniversary Edition" -- are not. The
background is an attractive
flat stoney color. The right-hand side and the bottom are busy but tastefully so. A dragon looms over much of the action along the right. Prince Phillip
and Princess Aurora embrace bottom-right, behind them a stream of fire coming from the dragon's mouth. Maleficent looks on to the couple's left. The
castle
appears below her and the three fairies float about further left of the evil one. The Signature Collection stamp appears bottom-left. The rear panel,
which carries over the stone finish, is a little less interesting. Of visual note is a relatively small center-placed depiction of several forest animals -- the
owl, two rabbits, a Cardinal, and a Bluebird -- wearing Prince Phillip's attire. A copyright notice and what appears to be a model number appear at the
bottom left and right, respectively. The spine carries over the same color scheme. The film's title, as it appears on the front (minus the debossing work)
runs
down the length. A Disney Blu-ray logo appears at the top and a Disney logo appears at the bottom.
Inside, the digital copy code is tucked underneath the left-hand-side tabs. The two discs, one DVD and one Blu-ray, are situated on the right in
staggered-stacked formation. The inner print is a two-panel spread that features Princess Aurora on the left, walking with a basket in her hands toward
her cottage, which appears on the right. It's a somewhat darker print with plenty of natural green throughout the scene.

Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

This is a very nice SteelBook. The front artwork is particularly striking. Unfortunately, the supplements are a bit of a mess. Too much of it is digital only
and there's plenty that's missing altogether. Video and audio are recycled from previous versions, so this SteelBook is only recommended to packaging
collectors and to newcomers who rightly balk at the secondary market prices for the previously issued discs.
