It's maybe more than a little hilarious to hear the commentary track for this effort (?) call SS Experiment Love Camp a "tier 2 Naziploitation film", since virtually anyone seeing this film, maybe even diehard fans (and there are evidently fans of the film) would probably admit it's unabashedly (and kind of unaplogetically) Grade Z "entertainment". 88 Films' US branch is offering Region A consumers basically the same release as their Region B release.

SS Experiment Love Camp is presented in 4K UHD courtesy of 88 Films with an HEVC / H.265 encoded 2160p transfer in 1.85:1. I never saw 88 Films' Region B 1080 release, as Svet did, so can't offer a comparative analysis, but the bottom line is as repulsive as this film undeniably is, the video presentation in both 1080 and 4K UHD is typically great, albeit one that especially in the increased resolution of the 4K format may unavoidably point out production limitations (maybe even including film stock), as Svet alludes to in his review. The 4K presentation definitely adds some luster to the palette courtesy of the HDR / Dolby Vision grades, though a lot of the film tends to exploit the dowdy grays of the prisoner outfits and other darker tones of the Nazi uniforms. Still, "little" moments like the peculiar green liquid in a laboratory pop with considerable vividness that is not quite as observable in the 1080 SDR version. Regular readers of my reviews know I'm not always a fan of how grain looks in 4K, and even Svet seems to indicate some may prefer the less "in your face" grain at 1080 resolutions, but the good news is there are really no compression issues to speak of.

SS Experiment Love Camp features LPCM 2.0 Mono tracks in either English or Italian. Both tracks have variable quality, but there's noticeable hiss and an attendant brighter high end on the English track, with the Italian track sounding slightly muffled by comparison if you toggle between the two. Things can sound a bit thin on both tracks, but dialogue (such as it is) is rendered cleanly and clearly in both languages. Optional English subtitles are available.

Note: Both the 4K UHD and 1080 discs in this package sport the same slate of supplements:

Arguably matching the hilarity of the commentary track is director Sergio Garrone's assertion that he's a "craftsman" and that "if you want a film depicting Nazi horrors, I'm your man". This is obviously a niche item catering to a specific audience, one way or the other. Technical merits are generally solid and the supplemental package interesting, for anyone who may be considering making a purchase.
