Peter Pan Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Martin Liebman July 12, 2018
Walt Disney's classic 1953 animated feature film 'Peter Pan' has been re-released to Blu-ray as part of the 'Signature Collection,' new
editions bearing Walt Disney's signature and featuring new bonus content not previously available on Blu-ray (while also removing some extras or
transitioning them to digital, the latter of which is thankfully not the case here). This is the seventh release in the 'Signature' line, following 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,' 'Beauty and the Beast,' 'Pinocchio,' 'Bambi,' 'The Lion King,' and 'Lady and the Tramp.' This Best Buy exclusive SteelBook offers an
attractive alternative to the standard Blu-ray packaging. Read on for more details on this simple but impressively designed 'Book.

Peter Pan Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

Peter Pan's Signature Collection Blu-ray SteelBook, exclusive to Best Buy, delivers an impressively well-rounded presentation. The front of the
SteelBook depicts Peter standing in the Darling children's bedroom window, looking in, with nighttime London appearing out in the distance. Tinker Bell
is floating just above his right shoulder. Curtains and the window panes flatter his posture. The film's title appears up top, and the classic, familiar
lettering is embossed, and is the only embossing work on the SteelBook. The words "anniversary edition" appear in non-distracting white at the
bottom, and the Walt Disney facsimile stamp/seal appears on the bottom right, which is of course a staple add on these Signature releases.
The rear panel, which is initially covered by a basic info cluster J-card, is actually really nifty; it's the same image as the front, but from the back
looking in. Peter is still standing in the window, with Tinker Bell over his right shoulder, but the view is from behind looking into the bedroom rather
than from inside looking out into the city. It's a great little touch and with no distracting print (a copyright date and a model number appear in tiny text
at the bottom) it's actually more attractive than the front, in this reviewer's humble opinion, anyway. The spine is simple, featuring the film's title and
"Anniversary Edition" text. A Blu-ray logo appears up top while a small thumbnail image of Tinker Bell appears on the bottom.
Inside the case are the DVD and Blu-ray discs, which are staggered-stacked on the right-hand side. The Movies Anywhere digital copy leaflet is in
there, too. The inner print offers a two-panel spread, a nighttime city vista of London with Tower Bridge featuring prominently on the left hand side;
the discs simply mask clusters of buildings.

Peter Pan Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

This is a simplistically handsome SteelBook that offers a "true" front and back image perspective, quality embossing work on the front, and a nice
nighttime rendering of the film's London location inside. The Blu-ray is great, too. Highly recommended.
