After a somewhat mysterious sequence of events, an oceanic flight from Sydney to LA crashes on what appears to be a deserted island. The chance of being found and rescued is fairly small, so the survivors have to cope with a set of challenges. They have to learn to survive on the island, a mysterious place with enough dangers on its own. Also, they have to learn to live with each other if any success is to be expected. And finally, they have to live with themselves and their pasts. Interwoven with the events on the islands are flashbacks to the pasts of 14 main characters. Step by step, we learn a little more about their diverse and unexpected pasts as the group's quest to survive takes shape.

Lost remains one of the best mystery-boxes in the history of television. The series was a perfect roller-coaster ride which helped to pave they way for more great television and proved what television was capable of achieving as a medium for storytelling. There's no better time to discover the series on Blu-ray than now (at the turn of it's fifteen anniversary).
Though the final season of Lost arguably has one of the most polarizing and debated series finales in television history, there is no question that Lost is one of the greatest achievements in the history of the medium and one of the best water-cooler shows ever created. The mystery and spectacle pulled viewers in but it was always the remarkable writing and the great characters which caused worldwide audiences to tune in week-to-week. From series showrunners Damon Lindelof (Watchmen, The Leftovers) and Carlton Cuse (Bate's Motel, Colony) and featuring the iconic score by Michael Giacchino (Star Wars: Rogue One, Star Trek, The Incredibles), Lost featured some of the best writing in television history with a great staff of screenwriters at the helm for the entire thrill-ride.
It was always fun talking about it on the usual Lost sites like The Fuselage, where I once asked director Jack Bender about the show and got a wonderful reply from him calling me an “extremely articulate, smart guy” and giving a “spoiler-alert” about an iconic Locke-centric episode which caused all the major Lost websites to go abuzz with speculation at the time. Thinking about the countless hours I spent speculating about the series countless mysteries brings back great memories. Lost remains just as brilliant as it was then and is a must-see television gem that cannot go overlooked.
Jack Bender (Alias) capably directed the bulk of the series and helped to carry the the great pilot by J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as he ran with the series for six seasons straight (expanding upon the pilot's filmmaking at every turn of the story). With one of the best and most diverse casts in television, Lost changed things. Television has never been the same since. A gem worth cherishing: don't overlook it.
"We have to go back!"

One of the things that differentiated the Lost: Season 6 Best Buy exclusive edition was an extra slipcover (covering the main slipcover on the edition). Two slipcovers for the price of one!
The release also included an extra bonus features disc. This disc was advertised as including a selection of "exclusive" making-of featurettes but somewhere in the production-chain there was a manufacturing error (..or was it?) and only the DVD exclusive release of Season 6 contains these supplements (so fans wanting a "complete" supplemental package might want to get the extras from the Lost: Season 6 DVD Best Buy exclusive edition separately).
Instead, the bonus DVD included for the Season 6 Best Buy exclusive Blu-ray edition mirrors the exclusive hidden bonus disc contained within the complete series DVD collection. It is important to note that while it contains all of the supplemental features provided on the DVD set, the disc is still just a standard DVD and does not contain any of the supplements in high-definition (as they are featured on the Lost: Complete Series Blu-ray counterpart) and none of the excellent Lost podcasts featuring Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are provided (as was featured on the complete series Blu-ray release).
Having loved listening to the fun Lost podcast, which I listened to every single week, the lack of them on this store exclusive release is a definite shortcoming when compared to the complete series Blu-ray collection. Still, fans of Lost hoping to see most of the supplemental features will find this to be a less-expensive alternative option on the market.
Lost celebrated a milestone in 2019: the remarkable television-series which changed the landscape of water-cooler television series (which paved the way for other massive series such as Game of Thrones) was a huge success for ABC upon premiering 15 years ago on September 22, 2004. The show became an overnight sensation and turned many of its stars into household names (including the drop-dead gorgeous Evangeline Lilly). The series was created by mystery-box J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker, Super 8) and screenwriter Damon Lindelof (2009's rebooted Star Trek, Prometheus, and the new hit HBO series, Watchmen).
There is no better time to revisit the iconic television series or to experience Lost for the first time (just make sure to start at the very beginning and work towards the sixth and final season). With nail-biting suspense, a stunning score by composer Michael Giacchino (Star Wars: Rogue One, Up, Spider-Man: Far From Home), exciting action, and mystery at ever turn within the story, Lost is the ultimate mystery series with action-adventure and drama all rolled up into one. A television masterpiece.
Now can we please get Lost on 4K UHD disc, Disney? (Maybe with collector's steelbook packaging...) Atmos audio for Giacchino's score, too. Lost seems destined for an upgrade.
