With Bell recovering from his last fight, the Hestia Familia receives a mission that they can't refuse: traveling deeper into the Dungeon than they ever have before! Fortunately, missions are what friends are for, and Hestia manages to borrow a few of the Miach and Takemikazuchi Familias' heaviest hitters. Staff (Aria the Scarlet Ammo, A Certain Magical Index), the series uses original character designs by Suzuhito Yasuda.
Produced by Kazuki Ueshima (My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999, Zo Zo Zombie) and Yūichirō Shiji (Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side, A Certain Scientific Accelerator), Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV brings together a cast that includes lead voice-performances by Inori Minase, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, and Saori Hayami.
Hestia (Inori Minase) and Bell Cranell (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) are back for more adventures. The quest is one that is never over for those who travel through the Dungeons of Orario. Though Bell is still in a state of recovery from the last big battle, the pendulum of time doesn’t wait for Bell as a new mission arrives within a flash. The Hestia Familia is put to the ultimate task: traveling into the dungeons deeper than previously traveled.
What else can be discovered on the mission into the dark and deep labyrinth within? Despite a promising start to the adventure, warnings are ignored by Cassandra. Ryū (Saori Hayami) is soon accused of committing a heinous crime and it is up to Bell to try and stand up for Ryū. Can Ryū’s good name be cleared? The adventures in the dungeons unfolds with more surprises in store.
The characters are a big part of the series. The characters are one of the main reasons why Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? has found a fan-base that adores the series. The charming cast of central characters is an essential part of the production. The character designs by Shigeki Kimoto (Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Arrow of the Orion) adds to the fun as well and these designs certainly provide some fun creativity.
The animation is impressive and one of the best things about Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon IV on the whole. The art style is distinct and there is a lot to appreciate about the unique animation. The animation is ushered in under the art direction of Jeong Ryeon Kim (Jujutsu Kaisen) alongside chief animation directors Masahiro Fujii (Hayate the Combat Butler!! , One Punch Man) and Shigeki Kimoto (Sword Oratoria: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?: Arrow of the Orion). The animation team deliver great results for the series. The team of animators certainly imbue the series with a sense of artistry that makes the production stand out as something more special. The animation is fluid and engaging. A good effort from the team.
The cinematography by Shingo Fukuyo (A Certain Magical Index, Shakugan no Shana) is an impressive part of the production, too. The cinematography shines with engaging visuals and plenty of charming elements. Fukuyo provides the series with the aesthetic backdrop the series needs. Fukuyo has fun in enhancing the aesthetic tone and providing the right ingredients.
The score composed by Keiji Inai (Alderamin on the Sky, I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level) is entertaining and a good backdrop for the series. The score provides a good balance of comedy and action. The action score element is a big part of the production. Without the score, the production wouldn’t be as intense during the big action beats of the series.

The sound direction by Jin Aketagawa (Aria the Scarlet Ammo, A Certain Scientific Railgun) is capably showcased and preserved on the release. Dialogue is clear and easy to understand on the release. The lossless encoding provides a more crisp and engaging experience for action scenes, too.
Potential buyers may wish to consider the fact that Blu-ray provides the absolute best audio quality possible for the presentation. Audiophiles who appreciate the subtle nuances of sound design and have high-end sound equipment will appreciate the subtle differences provided.
The release could have used a more robust supplemental package. This is one area of the release that is underwhelming.
