Frozen II 4K Blu-ray Movie Review
Reviewed by Randy Miller III March 1, 2020Target continues their ongoing line of Disney exclusive 4K variants with Frozen II, released simultaneously alongside the wide-release 4K edition and its Blu-ray counterpart. Disc contents are identical on both releases but the packaging has been given a nice upgrade featuring a fold-out Digipak case with an exclusive Filmmaker Gallery and Storybook. This Limited Edtion takes it cues from previous Target 4K variants like Toy Story 4, The Little Mermaid and others, providing 4K collectors and die-hard fans with a nicely-designed package that captures the film's atmosphere.

For a synopsis of the film, please refer to my colleague Marty Liebman's review of Frozen II 4K.

Frozen II 4K Blu-ray Movie, Special Features and Extras

This two-disc release is housed in a colorful fold-out Digipak case with individual disc hubs. After removing the outer slipcover (which includes a heavily glued J-card -- careful removing it!), the inside case features paneled images of Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven in action. Both discs feature artwork identical to the standard 4K edition, while the artwork behind the disc trays depicts a colorful snowy landscape. It's a great looking package that perfectly captures the film's aesthetic. Also tucked inside are a Digital Copy redemption slip and an exclusive book, detailed below.
- Filmmaker's Gallery and Storybook - This reversible 40-page book, sized about a quarter-inch smaller on all sides than the Blu-ray package, features divided content with two different cover images. The first 24 pages are from "The Art of Frozen II" and include an introduction (by co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, as well as producer Peter Del Vecho), concept art, and separate write-ups for several of the film's settings, themes, and characters. Likewise, the other side offers a preview of the official graphic novel adaptation. Similar to previous Target exclusive books, the pages are thick and glossy with attractive artwork and easy-to-read text.
For a list of the on-disc bonus features, please refer to our review of Frozen II 4K.
Frozen II 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation

Although it's a step down from the original , Frozen II has its moments and will capture the attention and imaginations of established fans. Disney's 4K release offers a solid A/V presentation (with a few reservations about the audio mix) and a handful of short but sweet kid-friendly extras. This Target exclusive edition ups the ante with beautiful packaging elements and a fairly substantial softcover book...even if it is only an abridged version of two already-available companion books. It's less than $10 more than the standard 4K, but still obviously for die-hard collectors only.
