The Universal "Glow in the Dark Art" Battlestar Galactica (1978) 4K Walmart-exclusive steelbook features a monochrome Cylon centered in a blue-grey field with a slightly off-white title floating above it. The blue-grey color gradually fades to a darker grey as approaches the edges. The reverse side continues the same background color scheme but features an image of a monochrome Colonial Viper firing on a Cylon Raider. It is very simple to detect both visually, and by touch, which elements on the front and back covers will glow. I opened the case and placed it face-down for 30 minutes in indirect sunlight before taking the pictures in a dark room to capture the glow-in-the-dark images. While I was initially disappointed that the title didn't glow, the image of the classic Cylon is instantly recognizable. In keeping with the cover image, the interior print also predominantly focuses on vintage Cylons - one of science fiction television's most iconic creations. The spine, which is a dark blue-grey fading to near black, sports the title in fonts identical to those used on the cover. Copies found in-store are housed in the typical anti-theft clamshell cases which pose an extra barrier to collectors attempting to find a copy free from any dents, scratches, scuffs, or other blemishes. For a discussion of the on-disc material, please follow the link above to the standard 4K UHD release.

Battlestar Galactica 4K Blu-ray Movie, Overall Score and Recommendation  4.0 of 5

While the steelbook may not be much to look at with the lights on, the glowing Cylon that emerges when the lights are off is very appealing, as are the fighters locked in combat on the reverse. Those who have yet to purchase this 4K disc in any iteration may wish to give this one strong consideration. While some may consider the "Glow in the Dark Art" gimmicky, it is certainly the most interesting packaging for Battlestar Galactica 1978 to date. Recommended.
