Walker: Season One Blu-ray Movie

Paramount Pictures | 2021 | 761 min | Not rated | Sep 20, 2022 | Kenneth Brown

WALKER, a reimagining of the long-running series “Walker, Texas Ranger,” stars Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) as Cordell Walker, a widower and father with his own moral code. Upon returning home to Austin, Texas, after being undercover for nearly a year, he discovers there’s harder work to be done at home as he attempts to reconnect with his creative and thoughtful son, August, and his headstrong, somewhat rebellious teenaged daughter, Stella. At work, Walker’s former colleague, Larry James, is now his Ranger Captain, and both men need time to adjust to their new dynamic. Walker also finds unexpected common ground with his new partner, Micki Ramirez (one of the first women in Texas Rangers history). The intense first season closely follows Walker as he takes on new challenges while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death. This 4-disc Blu-ray collection includes all 18 episodes plus exclusive special features.

The Carpetbaggers Blu-ray Movie

Kino Lorber | 1964 | 150 min | Not rated | Nov 28, 2023 | Dr. Svet Atanasov

Harold Robbins' best-seller about '30s Hollywood comes to the screen in a torrent of frank, controversial and (for the times) sensational scenes that helped break the Production Code. George Peppard is the ruthless tycoon who (with amazing parallels to Howard Hughes) builds a multi-million-dollar empire. Carroll Baker, who performs a razzle-dazzle striptease atop a glittery chandelier, is the Jean Harlow-type star. In addition to its depiction of the wild life in Tinseltown's early days, the film also boasts Alan Ladd's terrific final screen performance as the hero's sidekick, Nevada Smith.
