Samsung to Focus on Blu-ray

Samsung Electronics has revealed that they will start focusing on production of Blu-ray hardware due to recent movements in the high definition movie market. An official with the company stated, "Samsung is expected to show more interests in Blu-ray products than rival HD DVD." The company had recently released the dual format BD-UP5000 with plans to release another shortly.

Samsung was the first company to release a Blu-ray player when the format launched, and has continued to release players for the format. Seen as a win for the HD DVD group, Samsung released a dual format player which was met with much criticism. It appears now that Samsung will get back to their roots and focus on Blu-ray production.
