The Weinstein Company announced today that it has acquired the distribution rights for acclaimed Korean director Bong Joon-ho's upcoming film Snowpiercer (2013). The Weinstein Company will distribute the film in the United States, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, Snowpiercer tells the story of a group of survivors stranded on a train in a post-apocalyptic world covered by snow and ice. The film stars Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, and Song Kang-ho.
Snowpiercer is Bong Joon-ho's first English-language film. Other films directed by Bong Joon-ho that have been released on Blu-ray include: Memories of Murder, The Host, Tokyo!, and Mother. (Click on the links to read Blu-ray.com's reviews of these releases).
