Somerville House has officially announced the release of Zorro on Blu-ray. This marks the first time that this iteration of the masked swordsman has made it to HD. Starring Alain Delon (Le Cercle Rouge), Zorro cuts its way onto Blu-ray November 20th.
Seeking to avenge the murder of his close friend Miguel de la Serna, the strong and swashbuckling Diego de la Vega (Delon), takes on his name and masquerades as the weak and ineffectual governor of the New World territory of Nuova Aragon. For many generations, the land has been harshly ruled by a military dictatorship, most recently by the evil Colonel Huerta (Stanley Baker), the man behind Diego's friend's slaying. Not believing the seemingly weak new governor to be a threat, Huerta and his soldiers continue their greedy, cruel exploitation of the good people of Nuova Aragon, despite the fight for justice mounted by the monk Brother Francisco (Giampiero Albertini) and the beautiful aristocrat Hortensia (Ottavia Piccolo). But hope is on the horizon with Diego's transformation into Zorro, a dashing, black-clad masked outlaw-hero who defends the people of the land against tyranny and lets his presence be known by leaving his mark on the scene--a sword-slash of the letter "Z." Concocting an elaborate scheme as Diego to outwit as Huerta and also raising his sword as Zorro to defeat Huerta's men, Diego/Zorro, a man with two guises, leads the people of Nuova Aragon in a fight for their freedom. Revenge and justice are ultimately served in a climactic duel between Huerta and Zorro.
