Independent British distributors New Wave Films have acquired the rights for Egyptian director Ibrahim El Batout's drama El Sheita Elli Fat a.k.a Winter of Discontent (2012). The film premiered in the Horizons section of the Venice Film Festival last month. Swipe Films are in charge with the film's international sales.
Winter of Discontent began shooting at Cairo's Tahrir Square only a day before Hosni Mubarak stepped down from power. It follows three people whose lives become closely intertwined during the political demonstrations.
