Spain has selected director Pablo Berger's film Blancanieves to represent it at the Academy Awards. The film, which was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, stars Maribel Verdú, Ángela Molina, and Daniel Giménez Cacho.
Once upon a time a little girl who had never met her mother grew up being hated by her evil stepmother. She learned her father's art, a famous bullfighter, and one day she escaped to turn her life into a legend. Set in the South of Spain in the 20's, Blancanieves is a tribute to silent films.
