Canadian producer and distributor Entertainment One has acquired Alliance Films, which has the rights for such popular films as
The Hunger Games, the award-winning
The King's Speech and
Exotica. The merger makes Entertainment One the largest independent distributor in Canada and the United Kingdom.
Information about the negotiations between Entertainment One and Alliance Films was leaked earlier this year, at the Cannes Film Festival (see
here).
The deal, which is worth approximately C$225m (US$230.2m), gives Entertainment One access to more than 35,000 film and television titles on the Canadian and UK markets.
