Kaleidescape Reveals Blu-ray Plans

In an announcement sent out to its dealers, high-end media server company Kaleidescape has revealed plans to integrate a Blu-ray player into their media systems. The player, currently under development, will integrate into existing servers and provide playback capabilities for Blu-ray content. They plan on releasing this new player sometime next year.
The big hurtle for Kaleidescape will be the adaptation of a managed copy feature by movie studios. The current AACS implementation does not support managed copy, and almost two years since the first high definition disc was released, the feature does not appear to be coming any time soon. Additionally, studios may opt to charge owners an additional fee to copy the disc.
But assuming that everything works out as planned, Kaleidescape owner can look forward to Blu-ray support sometime in 2009.
Thanks goes out to unreal1080p for posting the news in our forums.
