20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has revealed that it is preparing a number of exciting Blu-ray releases set to appear on the market in Q4 and early 2013. The studio has confirmed that amongst them is Joseph L. Mankiewicz's epic
Cleopatra (1963), which has been out on Blu-ray in Europe for some time now.
Lou Lumenick from the New York Post has also confirmed that the studio is planing to bring to Blu-ray director-approved Blu-ray editions of Danny DeVito's
The War of the Roses (1989) and
Hoffa (1992). Both releases will apparently be part of Fox's "Signature " series.
In November, Fox also plans to re-release Franklin J. Schaffner's
Patton (1970), featuring a new high-definition transfer.
Catalog collections devoted to Robert Mitchum and Denzel Washington are also apparently prepped for release on October 10th.
Perhaps the most exciting news, however, is that Fox is getting ready to revive its terrific Studio Classics line, which started back in the VHS days. According to the New York Post, the first Blu-ray titles will likely appear sometime in 2013.
Lastly, on October 23rd Fox is also releasing a
3D Blu-ray edition of Alex Proyas' futuristic action thriller
I, Robot (2004).
