Canadian producer and distributor Entertainment One confirmed Monday that it has began negotiations to acquire Alliance Films, Canada's largest indie film distributor. Speculations about Entertainment One's interest in Alliance Films surfaced earlier this month at the Cannes Film Festival.
If a deal is finalized, Entertainment One will have access to a library of approximately 11,000 titles from Relativity Media, Lions Gate Entertainment, Focus Features, the Weinstein Company and CBS Films in Canada.
Last year, Alliance Films bought Maple Pictures, which distributed the Lions Gate Entertainment catalog in Canada.
Alliance Films is the Canadian distributor for the popular
The Hunger Games film.
