Universal Studios and MTV have just released the first official trailer for Savages. The latest film from Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone (Born on the Fourth of July), this intense thriller stars Taylor Kitsch (John Carter) and Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) as Chon and Ben, two best friends who - along with the support of their shared girlfriend Ophelia (Blake Lively, The Town) - maintain a successful marijuana industry in Laguna Beach.
Chon and Ben find their operation challenged, however, when the ultra-powerful Baja Cartel moves into their turf and demands a cut of the marijuana profits. When the two young men refuse, the head of the Cartel (Salma Hayek, Frida) kidnaps Ophelia, thus igniting an increasingly vicious battle of wits as Chon and Ben fight to reclaim their business independence - and Ophelia.
Adapted from Don Winslow's bestselling novel by Stone, Shane Salerno (Armageddon), and Winslow himself, the film features an impressive supporting cast that includes Benicio Del Toro (Traffic), John Travolta (Pulp Fiction), Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Joel David Moore (Avatar), Demián Bichir (A Better Life), and Uma Thurman (Kill Bill).
