Posted April 3, 2012 11:22 AM by Josh Katz

Timed to coincide with The Amazing Spider-Man's July 3rd theatrical release, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will reissue the Spider-Man Trilogy in individual O-Ring packages.

Directed by Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead) and starring Tobey Maguire (The Cider House Rules), these three films include:
  • Spider-Man - After he is bitten by a radioactive spider, mild-mannered teenager Peter Parker (Maguire) transforms into Spider-Man and faces the villainous Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe, John Carter).

  • Spider-Man 2 - Unable to cope with his superhero responsibilities, Parker retires his Spider-Man persona, only to find himself on a collision course with the brilliant-yet-insane Dr. Octopus (Alfred Molina, Frida).

  • Spider-Man 3 - Parker finds his personal and professional lives imploding; as Parker, his relationship with Mary-Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst, Melancholia) frays under the introduction of the beautiful Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard, The Help), and as Spider-Man, he has to combat the Sandman (Thomas Haden Church, Sideways), Venon (Topher Grace, That '70s Show), and the Green Goblin's son, Harry (James Franco, Pineapple Express).
Sony's new Spider-Man Blu-ray/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo packs present each film in their original aspect ratios (1.85:1 for Spider-Man and 2.39:1 for Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3) with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks (a change from the original discs' 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio).
