An adaptation of Jules Verne's classic sci-fi novel, Journey to the Center of the Earth stars James Mason (Lolita) as Sir Oliver S. Lindenbrook, a professor who leads an expedition through an Icelandic volcano into the center of the earth. Co-starring Pat Boone (The Greatest Story Ever Told), the film received three Oscar nominations at the 1960 Academy Awards Ceremony, including one for Best Special Effects.
Released in 1953, The Big Heat is director Fritz Lang's influential noir thriller; it focuses on a tough cop (Glenn Ford, Superman: The Movie) who goes rogue after his wife (Jocelyn Brando, Mommie Dearest) dies in an explosion meant for him. The picture also features memorable supporting turns from Lee Marvin (The Dirty Dozen) and Gloria Grahame (It's a Wonderful Life).
The fourth feature from filmmaker James L. Brooks (Broadcast News), As Good as It Gets tells the story of Melvin Udall (Jack Nicholson, Chinatown), a misanthropic author who reconnects to life through his interactions with a single mom (Helen Hunt, Cast Away) and a gay artist (Greg Kinnear, Little Miss Sunshine). A critical and commercial smash, the film received seven Oscar nominations - including nods for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor: Greg Kinnear - and won two for Nicholson and Hunt's lead performances.
Finally, The Wayward Bus is the screen version of the John Steinbeck novel about a group of people facing physical and emotional intrigues on their bus ride to San Juan. Joan Collins (Star Trek: The Original Series) and Rick Jason (Combat) star as the unhappy couple leading the trip, and Jayne Mansfield (Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?) gets a rare dramatic opportunity as a depressed burlesque dancer looking for love.
The Blu-rays' respective technical and supplementary specifications have not yet been detailed. As is the standard for Twilight Time releases, the discs will have limited 3,000 unit runs.
