Later this year, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will bring The Grapes of Wrath to Blu-ray. Director John Ford's classic adaptation of the John Steinbeck novel stars Henry Fonda (Once Upon a Time in the West) as Tom Joad, an itinerant farmer who leads his family west in search of greater prosperity during the Great Depression.
A critical and commercial darling, Ford's film received seven Oscar nominations at the 1941 Academy Awards Ceremony, including:
Best Picture
Best Director: John Ford
Best Actor: Henry Fonda
Best Supporting Actress: Jane Darwell
Best Adapted Screenplay: Nunnally Johnson
Best Film Editing: Robert L. Simpson
Best Sound: Edmund H. Hansen
Both Ford and Darwell won in their respective categories.
The Blu-ray presents the film in its original aspect ratio of 1.37:1 with a monaural DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc also features the following bonus supplements:
