For the week ending 03/04/2012, Dreamworks' animated comedy Puss in Boots still carried enough momentum to ensure the top spot on the overall package media sales chart, narrowly edging out Hugo's home media premiere.

However, while Hugo sold 78% as many total package units as Puss in Boots, Martin Scorsese's Academy Award-winning fable emerged the victor in Blu-ray-only numbers. Again, the operative word is "narrow" since Puss in Boots sold 97% as many Blu-rays as Hugo did. Taking into account the overall weekly figures for both pictures, Hugo generated 51% of sales through the HD format, with Puss in Boots garnering 39% from Blu-rays.

Warner Home Entertainment's Justice League: Doom occupied third place on the Blu-ray sales chart. Though the direct-to-video adventure did not inspire the same degree of activity that Puss in Boots and Hugo did - it sold 31% as many Blu-rays as the Shrek-spinoff - the film enjoyed healthy sales nonetheless. Of its aggregate home media figures, consumers bought 62% of Justice League: Doom copies on Blu-ray instead of on DVD or digital copies.

The DC Animated property's biggest competitor was The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, which outgrossed the Justice League entry by almost 1.5% in total package figures; further analysis reveals that the Twilight sequel sold 19% fewer Blu-rays than Justice League: Doom.
