War Horse Blu-ray (Updated)

In April, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will bring War Horse to Blu-ray. Director Steven Spielberg's adaptation of the Michael Morpurgo novel, this sweeping drama follows a horse named Joey through the hellish and morally ambiguous landscape of World War I.

Written by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) & Richard Curtis (Love Actually), the picture also features an impressive ensemble cast that includes Peter Mullan (Children of Men), Emily Watson (Synecdoche, New York), David Thewlis (Naked), Tom Hiddleston (Thor), Benedict Cumberbatch (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), David Kross (The Reader), Eddie Marsan (Hancock), Liam Cunningham (Hunger), and Niels Arestrup (A Prophet).

One of 2011's most acclaimed films, War Horse has been nominated for the following Academy Awards:

• Best Picture: Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy
• Best Cinematography: Janusz Kaminski
• Best Original Score: John Williams
• Best Art Direction: Rick Carter and Lee Sandales
• Best Sound Editing: Richard Hymns and Gary Rydstrom
• Best Sound Mixing: Gary Rydstrom, Andy Nelson, Tom Johnson, and Stuart Wilson

Disney's four-disc Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack presents the film in its original aspect ratio of 2.39:1 with a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc also contains a number of bonus supplements, such as:

• Hour-long A Filmmaking Journey documentary
• Six behind-the-scenes featurettes:
- War Horse: The Journey Home
- War Horse: The Look
- Through the Producer's Lens
- Editing and Scoring
- An Extra's Point of View
- The Sounds of War Horse

In addition, Disney will release a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. This version has the same technical specifications as the four-disc set alongside the War Horse: The Journey Home and An Extra's Point of View featurettes.

War Horse is expected to street on April 3rd.
