Next year, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release The Thing on Blu-ray. Director Matthijs Van Heijningen's feature-film debut, this thriller acts as a prequel to John Carpenter's horror film of the same name, detailing what happened when a vicious shape-shifting alien first made contact with an Antarctic research team.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Grindhouse) and Joel Edgerton (Warrior) star as the primary human opponents of the creature; they have to withstand not only violent attacks from alien manifestations but also mounting paranoia as the thing begins to replicate more members of the research team.
Universal's Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack presents The Thing in its original aspect ratio of 2.39:1 with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. In addition to My Scenes, U-Control, and pocket BLU functionalities, the disc contains a number of bonus supplements, including:
