Samsung is rescheduling the US launch of their Blu-ray player from May 23 to June 25 in order to complete compatibility testing with several Blu-ray test discs that will become available from product manufacturers and content providers in late April. According to the company, the hardware development for Samsung's BD-P1000 Blu-ray player is complete and ready for mass production in Suwon, South Korea once these compatibility tests are passed. Samsung also announced that the player now supports 1080p output via HDMI as well as upconversion of DVDs to 1080p. Additionaly, the built-in memory card interface has been upgraded to support Mini-SD and Memory Stick Pro Duo formats. Samsung added that these new features will not change the expected $999 street price.
