The UK branch of Studio Canal (formerly Optimum Home Entertainment) will release a Double Play edition of Tomas Alfredson's thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (2011), starring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, and Toby Jones. The film is nominated for seven British Independent Film Awards, including Best British Independent Film, Best Director, and Best Actor. Street date is January 30th.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is based on the John le Carre Cold War spy novel. Set in the 1970s, George Smiley (Oldman), a recently retired MI6 agent, is doing his best to adjust to a life outside the secret service. However, when a disgraced agent reappears with information concerning a mole at the heart of the Circus, Smiley is drawn back into the murky field of espionage.
