As part of its 100th Anniversary next year, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will offer special re-issues of selected catalog titles, and the Billy Elliot Blu-ray will be in the first wave. This dramedy stars Jamie Bell (King Kong) as the title character, an eleven-year-old boy pursuing his love of ballet in his rough-hewn County Durham hometown.
Directed by Stephen Daldry (The Reader), the film was a commercial and critical success in 2000, grossing over $100 million worldwide and winning three Academy Award nominations - Best Director: Stephen Daldry, Best Original Screenplay: Lee Hall, and Best Supporting Actress: Julie Walters.
