According to an article published by TheRegister, British consumers have fallen in love with Blu-ray. TheRegister quotes Vincent Marcais, Senior Vice President of International Marketing, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, who has revealed that "Blu-Ray sales rose 49 per cent in Q3 over the previous quarter" and now expects the high-definition format to overtake DVD in 2013.
What really impresses, however, is the fact that apparently the UK has the biggest per capita proportion of buyers in the world as ninety per cent of UK consumers who are actively involved with video prefer to buy. In the U.S., currently most people are apparently renting.
A recent
article published by Whathifi.com also notes that Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment expects the first full-year rise in European spending on home entertainment since 2004, following a boom in Blu-ray sales. According to the studio, in Europe disc sales are being driven by a 42% growth in Blu-ray.
