AMC Theatres Confirms The Dark Knight Rises IMAX Prologue

After much speculation, the AMC Theaters chain confirmed that Warner Brothers' six-minute The Dark Knight Rises prologue will debut in IMAX this December. The extended look at director Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated superhero epic will precede showings of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

This decision to promote The Dark Knight Rises in such a fashion mirrors how the studio built up anticipation for The Dark Knight. Prior to that earlier film's Summer 2008 release date, the opening six minutes of the film - which introduced audiences to Heath Ledger's Academy Award-winning interpretation of the Joker - were attached to 70mm IMAX screenings of I Am Legend in December 2007.

Audiences will be able to view the Dark Knight Rises prologue when Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol makes its IMAX premiere on December 16th.

Note: The Dark Knight Rises IMAX footage will not screen at IMAX Digital locations but rather in theaters equipped for IMAX 70mm.
