In January, Olive Films will release The Hellstrom Chronicle on Blu-ray. This unique fusion of documentary and science-fiction filmmaking styles examines the deadly resilience of the insect world, hypothesizing that their species could dominate the planet, given the right conditions.
Directed by Walon Green (The Wild Bunch) and written by David Seltzer (The Omen), the film was one of 1971's surprise hits, ultimately winning both the "Technical Grand Prize" at the Cannes Film Festival as well as the Academy Award for "Best Documentary Feature" at the 1972 Oscar ceremonies.
While the full roster of technical and supplementary specifications for the Blu-ray are still unknown, Olive Films' pre-order listing indicates that the disc will present the main feature in a 1.33:1 aspect ratio.
The Hellstrom Chronicle is expected to street on January 10th, 2012.
