Just in time for Halloween, the Dryden Theatre in Rochester, New York will host a special screening of The Shining. Director Stanley Kubrick's interpretation of the Stephen King novel stars Jack Nicholson (The Departed) as Jack Torrence, a failed writer haunted by demons both literal and figurative during his stay caretaking an isolated mountain lodge.
The Dryden Theatre will showcase a rare print that includes footage little-seen since the first few days of The Shining's 1980 theatrical release. Among this rare material is, according to the theatre's website, "a chilling coda cut from the original release."
Showtimes begin at 8:00 PM on October 22nd and at 7:00 PM on October 23rd. The Dryden Theatre is located at the George Eastman House on 900 East Avenue in Rochester, NY 14607.
