In addition to Friday's announcements of Adaptation and Stir Crazy, Image Entertainment also revealed plans to bring four more Sony catalog titles to Blu-ray. These include Nothing in Common with Tom Hanks and Jackie Gleason, the military drama A Soldier's Story, the 1982 Richard Pryor favorite The Toy and another Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder team-up, See No Evil, Hear No Evil.
Nothing in Common is a 1986 comedy starring Tom Hanks as self-confident ad-executive who is forced to care for his recently divorced parents. His parents are played by Jackie Gleason (in his final movie role) and Eva Marie Saint.
A Soldier's Story stars Howard E. Rollins as an Army attorney who is sent to Louisiana to investigate the murder of a drill Sergeant. The racially charged drama, which is based on Charles Fuller's Pulitzer Prize-winning play was released in 1984 and features Denzel Washington in one of his earliest roles.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil is another Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor buddy comedy that hit theaters back in 1989. The film stars the two comedy legends as handicapped friends (one who is deaf and the other blind) that are mistakenly accused by the NYPD of murdering a man in front of their newsstand. Together they escape from the police and set out to find the real culprits. Kevin Spacey and Joan Severance co-star.
The Toy is an adaptation of the 1976 film Le Jouet. Helmed by Richard Donner, the comedy stars Richard Pryor as an unemployed reporter who takes a job in a department store owned by millionaire U.S. Bates (played by Jackie Gleason).
Special features (if any) and tech specs for each release are unknown. All three will hit retail with the low staring price of $17.97 on December 6th. Pre-orders are now up on Amazon.
Update: Image has pushed all of the upcoming Sony catalog releases to 2012.
