Rio, once again soared to the top of the Blu-ray sales chart. The blue macaw was a two-time Blu-ray weekly sales champ, before losing the No. 1 spot to
Priest for week ending 08/21/11. Jesse Eisenberg's voiced Blu, generated 28% of its total home video sales in its fourth week of release from Blu-ray, a slight market share decrease from the 31% reported for its third week.
Dropping one spot to No. 2 on the Blu-ray sales chart and No. 3 on the overall sales chart was
Priest. Sony's vampire hunter sold 80% as many units as
Rio and finished the week with 44% of its home video sales deriving from the HD format. Clinging strong to the No. 3 spot was
The Big Lebowski. The Dude has been very well received by Blu-ray enthusiasts and finished its second week of BD release by managing to sell 56% as many units as the week's Blu-ray sales champ.
Bowing in at No. 4 on the Blu-ray sales chart was
Bambi II. Although, new to Blu-ray, The sequel to
Bambi was originally released in 2006 as a direct-to-video film. The No. 5 spot on the Blu-ray sales chart was abducted by
Paul. The Universal Studios comedy finished its third week on the charts by scoring 37% of its total home video sales from Blu-ray.
