The easiest way to judge how much a film impacted moviegoers is to measure how many years outside of its release it can be successfully referenced by primetime television.
Good Will Hunting, which is out today on Blu-ray, just happens to be one of those films that can be endlessly referenced, and even people who were too young to see the theatrical presentation will get the joke. It's a film that has and will always age well, being just a relevant today as when it was first released.
For the
Good Will Hunting Blu-ray review , staff reviewer Jeffrey Kaufman commented, "I was frankly more than a little trepidatious to revisit Good Will Hunting after several years, as I had very fond memories of it but feared it hadn't aged very well. It was quite a relief, then, to find that the film still has abundant heart and good humor and also undeniable emotional impact, especially as it builds toward its three-hankie climax." He continued, "The Blu-ray looks and sounds fantastic."
