MTV has posted the first look at the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collin's bestselling teen novel,
The Hunger Games. The Lionsgate production, which is currently filming in North Carolina, is being helmed by Gary Ross (
Seabiscuit) and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson.
The teaser offers a scarce amount of footage but does introduce Lawrence as Katniss, a young girl who must compete in a deadly survival game in order to return home. The futuristic sci-fi story is the first entry in a trilogy of novels which Lionsgate is hoping will be the next big book-to film franchise.
