Priest bowed on top of the Blu-ray sales chart, but only reached the No. 3 spot in the overall package media sales chart. Sony's vampire hunter did not enjoy box office success, the film was made with a production budget of $60 million and managed a disappointing domestic total of just over $29 million. Needing a strong home video release to offset its production and marketing costs,
Priest, barely bested last week's Blu-ray weekly sales champ,
Rio, by a slim 14% margin and finished its first week of home video release with 52% of total package unit sales coming from Blu-ray.
After two weeks at the top of the Blu-ray sales chart,
Rio, dropped one spot to the No. 2 slot. Jesse Eisenberg's voiced Blu, generated 31% of its total home video sales in its third week of release, a slight market share increase from the 29% reported for its second week.
Bowing in at the No. 3 spot was
The Big Lebowski. Jeff Bridges' Dude had been one of the most anticipated catalog releases from Universal Studios, and its Blu-ray debut did not disappoint. Selling 52% as many units as the week's No. 1 Blu-ray seller,
The Big Lebowski brought its charm to both old and new fans of the movie.
