Hong Kong-based distributors Kam & Ronson Enterprises will release on Blu-ray three cult actions films: John Woo's A Better Tomorrow (1986) and A Better Tomorrow II (1987) and Tsui Hark's A Better Tomorrow III (1989). The three films will arrive in shops on August 5th.

A Better Tomorrow

A death-hardened cop (Leslie Cheung) battles the Hong Kong underworld, including his own brother (Ti Lung), who joins the bad guys and his former partner in crime (Chow Yun-Fat). This progenitor of Woo's "heroic violence" films introduces the theme of loyalties between men shattered by a violent world that forces them apart. Only through sacrifice can honor be attained.

A Better Tomorrow II

The sequel sees Tse-ho (Ti Lung, Blood Brothers) working together with brother Tse-kit (Leslie Cheung, Farewell To My Concubine) to help the police break a counterfeit syndicate. They discover Lung (Dean Shek) is in danger of being killed by his employee, Ko, who is masterminding the counterfeit operations. They send Lung to a former assassin-turned-restaurant-owner Ken (Chow Yun-Fat) in New York. Everything boils to a fiery climax when Ken brings Lung home to face off with Ko with the help of Ho and Kit.

A Better Tomorrow III

Chow Yun-Fat (The Replacement Killer, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) reprises his role as Mark who picked up his skills with blazing guns in Vietnam under the tutelage of the tough-as-nails Kit (Anita Mui, Rouge). Kit falls for Mark but the latter, knowing that his cousin Mun (Tony Leung Ka-fai, The Lover) is in love with her, sacrifices his love for her. But the return of Kit's ex-boyfriend Ching brings things to a head, especially after he bombs Mun's new garage.
