Blu-ray Sales, July 18-July 24: Rango Repeats at No.1

For the week ending 7/24/11, Rango remained on top of the Blu-ray and the overall sales charts. The Johnny Depp starrer, had a strong debut for Blu-ray last week, as it generated 46% of total unit sales from the HD format. In week number two of release, Blu-ray's portion of the overall package media market for Rango dropped slightly to 42%. The chameleon had a strong hold on the top spot as the week's No. 2 title only managed to sell 63% as many copies.

Bowing at No. 2 on both the Blu-ray and the overall sales charts was the action thriller Limitless. Made with a modest production budget of $27 million, Bradley Cooper's venture into Sci-Fi had a successful box office run, ending with a worldwide total of $155 million. Limitless finished the week with a solid 40% stake of its sales coming from Blu-ray discs.

Dropping one spot to No. 3 on the Blu-ray sales chart was The Lincoln Lawyer with 29% of total package unit sales from Blu-ray. The week's other significant new release, Take Me Home Tonight, came in at No. 5 on the Blu-ray sales chart.
