All in all Neil Burger's action thriller has been well reviewed. Blu-ray.com's Jeffrey Kauffman

the goods within the confines of its limited ambitions. The video and audio elements of this
Blu-ray are outstanding." Jeff gives it a
Recommended rating.
Next up we have two French movies in the shape of
Amélie and
Chocolat. Amélie comes with the original 5.1 French language audio and English subtitles. Both movies are set in France, the first, Amélie features Audrey Tautou in her first major starring role, she plays a slightly eccentric young woman who finds an ability to matchmake. The second movie, Chocolat, follows a woman who moves to the French Countryside and opens a new chocolaterie which leads to many strange goings on in the love lives of the local villagers.
Of the first film, Amélie, Blu-ray.com reviewer
Jeffrey Kauffman said "This is an excellent Blu-ray release of a formidably original film, and it easily comes
Highly recommended." Giving the movie 4.5/5 overall. The second movie, Chocolat, was also reviewed by Jeff
who says, "The production design is also incredibly evocative, and while some aspects of the film may strike some as silly, overall Chocolat is as tasty as its titular candy. This Blu-ray is an improvement on the DVD, but it still offers a pretty soft image which may bother some videophiles. Nonetheless, this release is
Recommended." and gives the movie 4/5.
Doctor Who fans are also in for a real treat this week with
Doctor Who: Series 6, Part One and
Torchwood: The Complete Original Series from 2006 to 2009 will be available to purchase this week. Blu-ray.com's
Kenneth Brown gave Doctor Who 4/5 overall and said "Season Six, Part One finally converted me to the Who fold. I know not every longtime fan or relative newcomer will react as positively to its seven episodes as I did, but I couldn't ask for much more from Moffat, Smith and the Who cast and crew."
Finally,
Boyz n the Hood is this week's biggest catalogue release, it stars Lawrence Fishburne, Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding Jnr in 1980's southern Los Angeles dealing with gang culture and trying to survive in an area with a high homicide rate of young black men. The movie chronicles their lives as they grow up and then as they try and leave the 'Hood' to go to college and their struggles with friends who pressure them into giving in to gang culture.
In his review, Martin Liebman says "This is a challenging film to watch and one that's even more difficult to understand. It's a rewarding but also a punishing experience all at once, a film that transcends its place and time and people as a serious and unflinching look at a slice of life few ever know. Sony's Blu-ray release of Boyz n the Hood features a solid technical presentation and a fair array of quality extras." Giving it 4/5 overall, and a
Highly Recommended rating.
