Amazon is currently listing pre-orders for the Blu-ray release of Cars 2 3D. The 12th Pixar film will be treated to Disney's 5-disc combo pack which includes a Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray version of the film, a Blu-ray disc for special features, and a DVD/digital copy. A standard Blu-ray/DVD combo pack is also up for pre-order. Additionally, a Cars Director's Edition Box Set with Cars, Cars 2 and Mater's Tall Tales is also being listed.
Cars 2 hit theaters last month and performed quite well at the box office ($278 million worldwide to date) despite being the most poorly reviewed film in Pixar's canon. The second installment features a larger role for Mater (voiced by Larry the Cable the Guy) and breaks away from Radiator Springs to include a global backdrop with locations in Europe and Japan. Owen Wilson, Emily Mortimer, Michael Caine, Eddie Izzard and John Turturro are just a few of the Hollywood stars who lend their voice talents to the CG animated feature.
The 5-disc set has been listed with a SRP of $49.99 while the 2-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack has been listed for $39.99. Expect Cars 2 to street on November 1st. Special features and technical specs should be released soon.
Update: Disney has fully detailed the release. Cars 2 will be presented in DTS Master Audio 7.1 with a 2:39:1 aspect ratio. Special features will include:
