Paramount has released the first trailer for Martin Scorsese's upcoming family film Hugo. Based on Brian Selznick's 2007 historical fiction book, the film stars Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas) as Hugo, an orphan boy who lives within the hidden corridors of a Paris train station. Also starring in the film is Chloë Moretz (Kick Ass), Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jude Law, Christopher Lee and Ray Winstone.
The film marks a sharp turn for Scorsese, whose two previous films include the psychological thriller Shutter Island and the cop drama The Departed. Hugo will be the first family film that Scorcese has directed in his 40 year career. It will also be the first Scorsese film to be shot natively in 3D.
Hugo has been slated for a Thanksgiving release on November 23rd, 2011.
