Macrovision Buys BD+ Technology

Macrovision has acquired certain technologies from Cryptography Research Inc., including the Self-Protecting Digital Content (SPDC) technology used to form BD+ Blu-ray anti-piracy protection. Cryptography Research will in return receive $45M in cash plus Macrovision stock (based on performance milestones).
Currently, Fox is the only studio to make use of the BD+ technology which prevents Blu-ray titles from being copied onto computers and distributed over the Internet. So far, no reaction from Fox or the BDA regarding the sale.
