Quick search
As you've probably noticed by now, the old quick search has been replaced by a new quick search. As
you type it will now give you instant suggestions of the movie(s) you are most likely looking for, to
speed up the process of finding the correct entry(ies). You can now also select the
country of interest, or do a global search. The instant suggestions have been implemented for the
"Blu-ray", "3D Blu-ray" and "Theatrical" tabs, while for "Cast & crew", "HT Gear", "PS3", "News" and
"Forum" you will still need to hit enter to search. Instant search for at least "Cast & crew", "HT Gear"
and "PS3" will appear in a near future.
Quick add to collection
When using the new quick search you can now very easily add/remove titles to/from your collection/wishlist. This makes it very easy to mass add titles to your collection, which might be of interest to members with large collections. Our recommendation is to first mass add titles using the quick search and then go to your collection and mass edit all the newly added titles and micromanage each one to your liking at the same time.
Theatrical section
A theatrical section and menu option has been added to the top menu, with information about
theatrical releases and soon to be released movies on Blu-ray. To clarify, we should state that we are
not turning the site into a theatrical site, but we want to become an even better Blu-ray site by trying
to close the gap between the theatrical release and the Blu-ray release. It was also absolutely
necessary to create a theatrical section/entries to organize the database and the site. There are now
so many released Blu-ray movies and different editions that it's very difficult to keep track of them all
and to organize them properly. We have tried our best and our solution was to create
one
theatrical entry for each title to act as a master entry for all Blu-ray editions.
As an example we can use the theatrical/parent entry for
Avatar. You can there see all existing
Avatar releases for
different countries and different editions in the database. For TV shows you will see all different
seasons, example:
Mad Men.
If you are logged in you can click on the title name of a Blu-ray and you will be taken to the
theatrical/parent entry. You can also click on the new movie rating to be taken to the theatrical/parent entry, more information below.
Theatrical movie rating
We have also added a movie rating to the theatrical/master entry, so you can now rate each movie
based on a 1-10 score alone. Please note that this rating reflects the rating of the movie
only, while the Blu-ray rating reflects the rating of the Blu-ray disc video and audio quality,
extras and overall BD production. We encourage you to rate a lot of movies, both the ones you like
and the ones you dislike, that way the overall rating scores will be more reliable and we will also use
your ratings to give you better movie recommendations. On the "My Blu-ray.com" menu (must be logged in) you have "My ratings" where you can see all your cast ratings and you can also check out other members' ratings
(optional) and see exactly their taste in movies.
Theatrical collection
You can now also keep a theatrical collection/history of your movie theater visits, just like the Blu-ray and PS3 collections. As usual you can also check out other members' theatrical collections (optional).
Top lists
Three top lists have been added to the theatrical section:
Top rated - displays the top rated movies.
Top visited - displays the top visited movies in theaters by our members.
Top collected BDs - displays the top collected Blu-ray movies by our members.
There is also an advanced theatrical search function and a theatrical release calendar. Members will also in a near future be able to add/suggest cast & crew and more new features and improvements are coming.
It's 100% free to
become a member and as a logged in member no advertising will be shown on the site. Members can also customize the site functionality and layout.
